Taking part in our studies

We are looking for adults with a diagnosis of autism spectrum conditions to take part in our research.
Our studies take place at the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (17 Queen Square, London WC1N 3AZ). All participants are compensated for their time and travel expenses.

We run different types of study, and different people may be invited to different studies. When you come to the ICN, a researcher will meet you and explain what the project involves. It could include looking at pictures, reading stories, or an interview. Many projects involve computerised tasks  where you read sentences or look at pictures on a computer and press a button to indicate what you saw. For some projects, we track a person's eyes or use video and other technologies to record a person's movements precisely. These research methods allow us to examine subtle features of human behaviour which may not be visible to the naked eye. If you are invited to take part in a research project at the university, you will be sent detailed information about the project, and you can decide if you want to take part or not.
All our studies are approved by the UCL Research Ethics Committee, and all personal information is stored confidentially in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
For more information about studies or questions on how to take part, please contact us.
